Apple just made a compelling case for why the iPhone is far safer than the Android

Just ahead of the start of WWDC 2022 next week, when Apple will unveil the latest versions of the operating software for iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watch, and Apple TV, the iPhone maker has also released some eye-opening statistics about its App Store security efforts.

Some of these findings are likely to be summarized by Apple during the WWDC keynote event on Monday, June 6. In summary, Apple announced on Wednesday that its security efforts in 2021 saved customers from nearly $1.5 billion in “potentially fraudulent” transactions. In addition, Apple prevented over 1.6 million “risky and vulnerable” apps from defrauding users.

To be sure, there’s always some skill involved in calculating the damage that could have been caused by something that didn’t happen. Apple protecting App Store and iPhone users, fraud prevention in 2021

In 2021, Apple adds that its App Review team rejected over 34,500 apps from its app store. What’s the reason? Because of “hidden or undocumented” features. In addition, over 157,000 apps were rejected from the App Store for various reasons. For example, Apple determined that those apps were “spam, copycats, or misleading to users, such as tricking them into purchasing.”
