According to Business Korea, BOE withdrew from the initial orders for the next OLED iPad Pro, leaving Samsung Display and LG Display to fill the orders. Apple’s current release goal for the upcoming iPad Pro versions is 2024.
The business anticipates a significant redesign for its professional tablet by switching from LCD and miniLED screens to OLED panel technology, following a minor upgrade last year by adding the M2 chip. Business Korea reports that Apple has ordered 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch panels for the next iPad Pro models.
Samsung and LG will make the sixth-generation OLED display for the new iPad. In contrast, South Korean producers will employ the eight-generation screens in 2026 when Apple anticipates integrating OLED technology into its MacBook models.
According to display analyst Ross Young, Apple aims to release new iPad Pro models by the beginning of 2024. He claims that the declining display cost is why the Cupertino company is adopting OLED panels. According to the analyst, tandem stacks and phosphorescent blue emitters will not only increase the performance of OLED panels over the next five years, but larger fabs will also drive down costs.
For instance, The Elec claims that Apple is gradually switching between four different display technologies for its products. IPS LCD was first, followed by IPS LCD with miniLED illumination (seen on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro), and soon OLED.
According to the research, an OLED iPad Pro should be available in 2024, and an OLED MacBook Pro should follow in 2026.

“Although having a moniker sounds close to miniLED, this technology is entirely separate. In essence, it is an OLED that has been dramatically improved. It is more powerfully effective, brighter, and burn-in-free. MicroLED has attracted Apple’s attention since at least 2014, although despite some promising developments, this technology is still in its infancy. Like OLED, it will debut on the Apple Watch first, followed by the iPhone, iPad, and Macs in that sequence.”
