HP may be working on a 17-inch 4K foldable laptop

According to a South Korean report, HP intends to become the latest entrant in the nascent foldable laptop market. It would compete with Lenovo and Asus products and a rumored Samsung model.
According to The Elec, SK IE Technology has won a contract to supply film for an LG foldable display used in HP’s first foldable laptop. Starting in the third quarter of 2022, SK IE may provide 10,000 units for manufacturing.

At CES in January, LG confirmed its work on a foldable OLED screen for 17-inch laptops, which could end up in models from HP, Asus, and Samsung.
At CES, Asus displayed its Zenbook 17 Fold (17 inches unfolded, 12.3 inches partially folded), and rumors from last year suggested that Samsung was working on a model with the same unfolded size. HP’s foldable is also a 17-inch OLED, but it folds down to 11 inches.
Despite being the same size as its rivals, HP’s screen is expected to be 4K, whereas the Zenbook’s screen is only 2,560 by 1,920 pixels. Lenovo released the ThinkPad X1 Fold in 2020, with a 13.3-inch, 2,048 x 1,536-pixel screen that it refused to categorize as a laptop or a tablet.
There are currently no other details about the HP model’s hardware or pricing. The Zenbook is powered by an Intel Core i7 U-series processor from the 12th generation, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of PCIe storage. It is scheduled to arrive in Q2.
