The Nothing Phone (1) will be unveiled on July 12, 2022, at a launch event. The British consumer tech company has just announced that on this date at 16.00 BST, it will “reveal all about the second device in its ecosystem” at a special London event.
This event will be live-streamed on the website nothing. tech. To gain access to the stream, sign up now.
Nothing else is expected to make “exciting announcements” at the event. Perhaps a sequel to the company’s first product, the Nothing Ear (1)? After all, it’ll be a year since that impressive set of true wireless headphones was released.
The Nothing Phone (1) is already known to have the brand’s signature transparent design, with CEO and co-founder Carl Pei (formerly of OnePlus) confirming that he wanted to showcase the more interesting components that customers rarely see, such as the phone’s camera and wireless charging coil.
We’ve also heard that the phone will cost somewhere around €500, implying that it won’t be a true flagship device. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, but we don’t know which one.
Nothing OS, the custom UI that runs on top of the Nothing Phone (1)‘s Android OS, is the element we know the most about. Expect a pared-down, bloatware-free version of Google’s operating system with a striking monochrome aesthetic.
We can also expect three years of OS updates and four years of security updates, which is quite impressive.
